Velox® is a modular connector system designed for high-speed backplane applications. It was specifically developed for markets with high performance requirements.
The Velox® product series meets the stringent requirements of VITA46 systems. Four different models are available, each offering the option for custom configuration. This provides developers with greater flexibility in designing PCB layouts.
The 1.27 µm thick gold plating also ensures the system’s long service life.

Velox® connectors feature a robust design, including a gold plating layer 1.27 μm (50 microinches) thick. The contacts are recessed, providing additional protection. These features contribute to a service life of at least 200 mating cycles. Velox® is therefore particularly suitable for high-speed backplane applications with a data throughput of 10 Gbit/s. The connectors’ high durability has already been proven in tests conducted in accordance with the VITA-46 standard.

The VITA46 Specification

The VITA 46 specifications, also known as VPX, describe a new high-speed connector system. Among other things, it supports Gigabit Ethernet, PCI Express, Serial RapidIO, and InfiniBand. The 6U and 3U Eurocard form factors familiar from the VMEbus are supported to ensure maximum compatibility. This also makes hybrid systems possible. The VITA 46 standard was developed by the VITA organization primarily for computer systems that must withstand high loads, such as in military applications.

Four different designs can be combined with each other in a modular fashion. Velox® connectors are highly flexible due to the varying number of contacts. This feature is underscored by the ability to populate the variants individually.
