VarPol male and female connectors offer a wide range of options: they are available in single- or double-row configurations and with a variable number of pins ranging from 2 to 108. The design of all connectors is also optimized so that they can be seamlessly connected end-to-end. A wide range of lead lengths up to 25 mm allows for the stacking of PCBs with spacing from 11.45 mm to 35.45 mm. The pin headers are also available in a 90° angled version, enabling both parallel and right-angle connections. In addition, with all VarPol products, you can choose between two quality grades, which guarantee a service life of either 50 or 250 mating cycles.

The pin and spring headers are equipped with the proven Tcom press® press-fit zone, allowing them to be pressed in without soldering. The press-fit process creates a gas-tight and vibration-resistant connection, making VarPol products the ideal PCB connectors for reliable mechanical and electrical connections, even in harsh environments. ept provides the matching assembly tools for the pin and spring headers, making the press-fit process highly simple and reliable. For wider PCB spacing, additional guide bodies assist with contact alignment and deliver optimal stabilization for the press-fit pin headers.

Stacking with VarPol

VarPol press-fit pin and socket headers offer a highly flexible way to connect printed circuit boards in parallel:
  • PCB spacing from 11.45 mm to 35.45 mm thanks to various connector lengths for single-row or
  • double-row pin headers
  • ; number of contacts can be selected as needed (open-ended, as the connectors can be arranged in a row without losing the pitch)

The connection between the connector and the printed circuit board via press-fit technology enables an extremely robust and durable connection. High-quality press-fit connections, such as those created with the Tcom press® from ept, have been proven to offer better contact reliability than soldered connections. The cold weld formed between the contact and the PCB hole during the press-fit process is mechanically very stable and electrically superior. Processing with the appropriate tools offered by ept is remarkably simple and reliable.

Furthermore, stacking multiple PCBs on top of one another is possible by using header strips with corresponding connection contacts. PCB spacing ranging from 11.45 mm to 19.35 mm can be achieved in this manner. A guide body mounted on the underside of the top PCB ensures stable contact guidance and prevents misinsertion.

In addition to parallel board-to-board configurations, angled pin headers enable right-angle connections with the same versatility and reliability.
