The contact is made using a defined and controlled force - an enormous advantage for consistent quality and fast, problem-free processing. The special feature: The press-fit pin has a larger diagonal than the hole diameter of the PCB. The flexibility lies in the press-fit zone.
Press-fit tools allow several connectors to be pressed in at the same time. In contrast to soldering, the PCBs are not thermally stressed. A gas-tight, durable, mechanically and electrically conductive connection with low contact resistance is created between the press-fit pin and the hole wall.

Leading and lagging contact with the DIN 41612 connector
Why use a leading or trailing contact?
Leading and lagging contacts are used in electrical engineering to prevent voltage peaks and thus overvoltage. With these contacts, the connection is made first or last and also interrupted first or last.
